Subject Halt the Unnecessary USDA Reorganization!
My name is {{FirstName}} and I’m a farmer in MIchigan. I understand that USDA has proposed a massive reorganization of its staff and work without first asking for input from the farmers it serves.

I am submitting this comment jointly to USDA and to my Congressional delegation to share my perspective on this issue.

As a farmer, I ask you to STOP the unnecessary reorganization of USDA – it could result in the loss of 50% or more of USDA staff at the agency’s headquarters alone, the closure of long-standing public research stations and regional offices, and longer wait times and difficulty for farmers trying to sign up for conservation programs, loans, and other services. USDA needs to strengthen its mission to serve us better and a forced, rushed, massive reduction won’t help. Farming is already an extremely hard job, and USDA is about to make it even harder!

For us to continue feeding hundreds of millions of people each year, farmers need stable and reliable access to the financial and technical resources required to farm. I am tired of the never ending changes, I don’t have the time, energy, or interest to repeatedly adjust to bureaucratic changes. I want USDA to fulfill its mission of serving American farmers and families, so that I can keep farming and feeding my community – the best way to do that is to invest in retaining capable staff, supporting what works, and actually talking with stakeholders in the field. USDA cannot perform its duty to us without adequate and skilled staff, and won’t achieve its mission by ignoring the feedback and needs of farmers.

USDA and Congress both have the power to stop this process immediately. Please halt this rushed reorganization of an agency critical to our nation’s food security and economy. Thank you for your consideration.
